Sunday Februray 21, 2010

Today was an up and down day for me. The highlight of my day came when I knocked out AceJones deep in the GFN Forum Wars. We had 4 people make the final table, and it was our first good showing....funny how that works when its a buy-in for more than a $1.

Retrospectively looking into the past games I feel that our team needs some sort of financial incentive to play our best. We have a lot of players who are very capable of playing to the FT...but I just do not think we took it serious enough prior.

I ended up cashing in the $150 Guaranteed today.

I also picked up a BLT ticket for this coming up weekend.

Ran a bunch of UT SNG's and played really well, but unfortunately alligator blood short stacks hit every 10% out on the river known to man. This resulted in me taking 3rd. Though I was profitable throughout these investments.

I really have been reducing my amounts of sleep. I took a nap for 2 hours at like 9am this morning until the crew cup at 11. I think I hit the alarm at least 4 times before I got out of bed. Deprivation ensued, I endured another all night grind. Its now 4:43 when I am writing this. I have been having a great time chatting with my fellow night owl Adriel, who is a follower. He is a great dude, and is always there for me. I think he watches more of my games, than he plays himself. To each his own. I actually watched Adriel play "poker" tonight...which is always fun...since he is usually playing blackjack or monopoly...very rarely does he actually see flops of his own.

I have also been bull shitting all through the night with my favorite aussie, Steve "Teach Em" Meachem. We have been up basically playing through the wee hours of the night. I usually don't blog like this, I try to stick to more a more informational approach. But these guys are my crew when it comes to grinders.

I also did some work on my bankroll management spreadsheet. It really needs to be used more consistently, and thoroughly...I do not have any excuses....but I do hope that I can be more diligent with tracking my games, profits, and losses through a wide spectrum of analytical mathematics.

One thing I heard tonight was that Ho is gonna run a new promotion for a small bankroll and lessons. From what I gather you will have to build a "Why do you think you deserve this" essay. I feel I do have a specific edge in obtaining this promotion. I am clearly involved with Rounders Radio, Poker Ho's Shows, and UB. I am not sure if I am gonna write an essay or do a video. I am still contemplating the tactics I will use to obtain these lessons, but I think I am starting to build up enough persuasive perspectives as to why I would be the best candidate. I eat, do not sleep, and breathe poker. I've read numerous books, articles, and forum posts that show my ongoing interest in pursuing applicable information. Since I have a hard time breaking the mold of a low stakes grinder I think I would gain the most benefit from pro lessons. I do not go to school, have a job, have many hobbies, or really do anything other than spend time with my girlfriend. I do plan on winning my WSOP package this year through UB's Step Program.

I am now blogging status reports, trying to keep track of all my buy ins, learning the ins and outs of my PT3, and scheduling for the entire week on a excel spreadsheet. Overall I would say that I have taken my game to an all new tier. One of my main goals for this year was to utilize my abilities in thinking by taking them into actions. I have had a lot of these ideas for over a year. Putting them into place, and staying committed to my plan of action is going to be a daunting task.

Someone in RoundersRadio chat said to me today, "Snake you are never happy with the way you play" in response to that I am not.

My never satisfied thirst to revolutionize each action and reaction I make shows the level of desire I have to persevere through the poker community. I am a passionate individual who will not take no for an answer. Kurt Warner was a trash man before he tried out to be a quarter back, Micheal Jordan was cut from his freshman high school basketball team, and Einstein failed high school math. What made these individuals who they became? The undaunted, unsatisfied, and unstoppable passion to do what it is that they loved. As time being the only unknown factor in my probability for succession, I feel as if each day I put one more piece into the puzzle. As to its completion will never be obtained, but soon I promise you will be able to see parts of the big picture.

Once again thank you for you're time, reply posts are truly appreciated. I feel gaining opinions from those around you is the best way to build a better total perspective. Hope you enjoy reading the blog, if you want me to specifically address a certain topic I would be more than happy to.
